(Neal Smith, Cassie-Wife, Liz-Daughter-in-law, Junior-Son, Holly-Daughter, AJ-Son-in-law, Raymond-Father)
I started working in my father’s cabinet shop in 1979 at age 10. After graduating from South Ga. Tech I worked up to General Manager and senior kitchen and bath designer of my father’s shop in 1989. I got married to my wife Cassie that same year. I started working more and more with metal as a hobby in the mid 80's. By late 90's I had learned to weld, fabricate metal, work a forge and many other aspects of metal fabrication. I began to make iron panels for our cabinet door and also integrated iron into corbels for bar overhangs. After positive response from customers to these items I began Neal Smith Designs in 1998. I make a variety of products. I specialize in products made from wood and metal. I make Cabinet door panels, corbels, onlays, furniture, home accents, and jewelry. I use a lot of different methods and tools to arrive at my end products. Many of those method and tools are ones I have created. I truly love making these products and I give thanks and all the credit to God for anything I am able to make or do. My wife Cassie serves as my assistant and general manager plus does whatever is needed. She puts the finish on many of my products, handles shipping, sweeps floors and gives opinions. We have two children that help from time to time as well. Our home and shop is in Grantville, Ga where I was born, raised and have spent my entire life.
