Our Story
Left to Right (Neal Smith, Cassie-Wife, Liz-Daughter-in-law, Junior-Son, Holly-Daughter, AJ-Son-in-law, Raymond-Father)
In 1979, at the age of 10, I started working at my father's cabinet shop. I furthered my education at South Georgia Tech and eventually rose to the positions of General Manager and Senior Kitchen and Bath Designer by 1989. That same year, I married my wife, Cassie. She now plays a crucial role as my assistant and general manager, handling product finishes, shipping, and providing valuable opinions. Our two children also work in the family business.
In the mid-80s, I developed an interest in metalworking as a hobby, which derived from racing. By the late 90s, I had mastered welding, metal fabrication, forge work, and various other aspects of metalwork. I began creating for our cabinet shop customers, iron panels for cabinet doors and incorporating iron into corbels for bar overhangs, which received positive feedback from customers. This led me to establish Neal Smith Designs in 1998.
Under this brand, I specialize in crafting a wide range of products using wood and metal, including cabinet door panels, corbels, on lays, furniture, home accents, and jewelry. I employ various methods and tools, many of which I have developed myself. Creating these products brings me great joy, and I credit God for all the abilities I have. Our home and shop are in Grantville, Ga, where I have lived my entire life.
